The wait is over for Amanda Serrano fans. In partnership with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), Netflix has announced the long-awaited rematch for Serrano and Katie Taylor. The fight will be the co-main event of the upcoming Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight.
The rematch between Serrano and Taylor is not just another fight. It’s a battle for the undisputed super lightweight championship, a title that both fighters have worked tirelessly to earn. If Serrano emerges victorious, Taylor could potentially lose all of her super lightweight belts, adding an extra layer of intensity to this already high-stakes match.

Their first encounter was a historic moment, marking the first time female fighters headlined at Madison Square Garden. This monumental event was recognized as Sports Illustrated‘s Fight of the Year and The Ring‘s Event of the Year in 2022. As we approach the July 20 fight, here are three key facts about Serrano that every sports fan should know.
Serrano is Puerto Rican and is trained in three different fighting disciplines
ESPN cites that the pro boxer was born in Puerto Rico and is 5′ 5″, weighing 125 pounds. Boxer Rec further details that she was born between San Juan and Loíza in the Carolina municipality. Her boxing stance, the positioning of her feet, is southpaw, a term used for left-handed fighters.
Serrano credits her sister Cindy with initiating her journey into boxing. On Instagram, she refers to her sister as her “idol.”
“No better feeling than to wake up in the house where your Idol lives in. I do this with is my sister Cindy, who by the way not only inspired me to take up boxing but is my partner at being the 1st set of Sisters to be World Champions,” she explains.
The Puerto Rican featherweight champion adds, “We were both champions together from 2016 to 2018. Her at Featherweight & myself at Super Bantamweight. WE’RE BLESSED! 🙏”
In addition to being a professionally trained boxer, Serrano has also trained in mixed martial arts and Jiu-jitsu.
She’s looking to evolve the way that female boxers play the sport
According to Sporting News, the standard number of rounds for a women’s match and a men’s match differ somewhat. For the most part, championship rounds for women consist of ten two-minute rounds, while men’s matches consist of 12 three-minute rounds.
Serrano’s dedication to revolutionizing women’s boxing is unwavering, even if it means relinquishing one of her titles. The pro boxer advocates for women’s championship matches to mirror those of the men’s, using the 12×3 method. Despite the World Boxing Council’s lack of support, she remains steadfast in her mission.
In a press release sent by Netflix, Serrano says, “While my focus continues to be on giving women the choice to fight with the same rules as men, I’ve always said that this is the one fight I’d go back to 10×2 for if that’s what Katie wanted.”
“I’m coming for her belts, she wants 10×2, so that’s what we will do. I believe I won our first fight, but I didn’t get the decision, so this time I’m not leaving it to the judges. I am honored to share this iconic MVP card in the biggest stadium, on the biggest streaming platform in the world,” she continued.
The Serrano and Taylor rematch will take place at the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys stadium
Through the partnership with Netflix and MVP, Taylor and Serrano will fight again in a live stream on July 20. This fight will follow their historic match at Madison Square Garden in 2022, which ended in a narrow win for Taylor.
Their megafight will follow the 10×2 format per Taylor’s request and see Serrano’s only break from fighting the men’s standard of 12×3 for the remainder of her career.
The fight will occur at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Fans can sign up for presale ticket access at mostvaluablepromotions.com.
